don't miss the ball

Volleyball originated in the American city of Holioax in 1895 and was originally an alternative to basketball. The rules of the game were invented by William Morgan, he assumed that men of retirement age would play the game. Volleyball was originally called the Minton. Morgan took the net from tennis, and the rules from baseball, basketball and handball. In 1916, the first spike and set were worked out in the Philippines. A little later, the game got its modern name. US soldiers actively played in it, they also taught local volleyball. This has contributed to the spread of the game around the world.
